"THIS TIME"
COPYRIGHT DIDO WALKER20/4/2016 "What I enjoy is a really good fire", she said, Sparks flashed skyward, her face glowed red:. A conflagration recently stamped out. In her own mind there lay no doubt That, now she'd killed the latter, She rued having willed the matter. Now she stood as though quandary-solving; Yet, for all that, nothing was evolving, So she struck out down the first tributary. Unfamiliar; her instinct was involuntary. Along the ways she hoped to step ashore And warm her lifeless hands once more At the blaze, watching it climb, Feeding it with the best twigs this time And blowing softly on the sparked tinder. While watching, nothing would hinder The high, spiralling smoke Wrapping the night in a soft cloak. The flames burning and feeding her soul Yet always beyond her final control Reincarnating her obliterated state And causing the cold to dissipate: And Her, no longer fearing nature's force, Again allowing the fire to run its course By Dido Walker |
